Contact

I am Jannik Feuerhahn, responsible for this website. For privacy questions or requests, email jannik@feuer.dev.

Visiting the website

This is a static website hosted on GitHub Pages. Your browser sends GitHub the information needed to request and receive pages, including your IP address and request details. GitHub states that it logs visitors' IP addresses for security, including visits made without a GitHub account.

I use this hosting to deliver the website securely and reliably. The legal basis for that necessary processing is my legitimate interest in providing and protecting the website, under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

GitHub controls its hosting logs and their retention. Its published policy ties retention to the processing purpose and legal obligations, without specifying a fixed retention period for Pages visitor logs. I do not receive those raw visitor logs.

GitHub may process data in the United States and other countries. Its privacy statement describes its international transfer safeguards, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See GitHub Pages data collection and the GitHub privacy statement.

Analytics

I use GoatCounter, operated by Martin Tournoij in Ireland, to understand visits to the homepage, use of project and contact links, and switches between plain and fancy mode. Its script loads from gc.zgo.at and sends counts to feuerdev.goatcounter.com. Analytics runs only on the homepage at feuer.dev, when JavaScript is enabled. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the script is not loaded.

Counts include the homepage path or a fixed event name, the page or event title, the referring domain, browser and operating system, country and screen width. Referring paths, query strings and URL fragments are excluded. Clicks are grouped by project, with separate counts for email, GitHub, LinkedIn, résumé and each presentation mode. Link destinations and email messages are not sent as event data.

GoatCounter receives your IP address and browser headers with the request. It uses the site, IP address and browser header in memory for up to eight hours to avoid counting repeated visits and events in the same session. According to its privacy policy, it does not store IP addresses or full browser headers in its analytics database, or use visitor cookies or persistent browser identifiers for counting. The dashboard contains aggregate statistics, with individual pageview records, language and campaign collection disabled. Statistics are private and retained for up to 730 days (about 24 months).

I use these statistics to understand which parts of my portfolio are useful, based on my legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can object by enabling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, which prevents both visit and event counts. GoatCounter hosts data at Hetzner in Germany and Finland. See the GoatCounter privacy policy for its processing and deletion details.

Cookies and external content

This website uses no advertising trackers or cookies. Plain mode uses your device's fonts, and fancy mode loads fonts from this website. Images and other scripts are local, except for the analytics script described above. The presentation mode is kept in memory for the current page and is not stored in a cookie or the URL.

Project links and the résumé open external websites. They are links, not embedded content. Their providers process your requests when you follow them.

Email

If you email me, I use your address, message and any attachments to handle your enquiry. This is based on my legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. If your enquiry concerns entering into a contract with me, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies instead. Email is transmitted and stored through the email providers involved in the correspondence.

I keep correspondence while it is needed to deal with your enquiry or an ongoing exchange, then delete it unless a legal retention requirement or the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim requires keeping it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal data, and portability where applicable. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your situation. Contact me using the email address above.

You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the country where you live or work. The European Data Protection Board lists the authorities.

App policies

The separate policies for Big Pond and Impfalarm describe those apps, rather than this website.
